I don't know what it is. Do you consider this blog to be mostly electronic based music, or do those artists have better press then traditional rock or other "indie" artists because it seems these days that all the press releases I get these days are electronic music. Regardless, I love what I have been hearing.
This one hit my inbox yesterday as I was watching the Saints go 9-0, and the Jets drop another one. Portformat aka Ibrahima M'Bodji is an experimental German Hip-Hop producer who is originally from Senegal, and was raised a strict Muslim. This blew my mind, because he sounds like he was raised in New York and grew up listening to British artists like Aphex Twin. Portformat’s debut album is called the “The Repeat Factor”, which will be released December 3rd 2009 on Tokyo Dawn Records. The album features cameos from Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow, Blaktroniks, Shuanise, Obey Altar The Native, Bless1, Suzi Analogue, Gajah, Thesaurus Rex, Caits Meissner and more. Portformat claims, "The Repeat Factor was created by the idea that everything in life repeats. The great principles behind nature’s dualities such as day and night prove that nothing can last but transition. All cycles of life (and music) continuously repeat in a slightly varied forms.“ That is some deep stuff, but it is very true abut this album. It it a great futuristic interpretation on classic Hip-Hop. Here are two singles off the album.
