Painting Spain Orange

I haven't given up an MP3 in a while so here you go. Put this one on the IPod for your drive to Geronimo Fest in LaLa Land tomorrow. Houston's own Spain Colored Orange is a band that I think a lot of you NOLA kids would get into. Sounds kind of similar to what MyNameIsJohnMichael is doing with it's fullness in sound and quality of production, but not with as refined of a lead vocalist. Not to just compare them to other bands, but that is the problem with pop music, so much has already been done in the past 100 years that it's hard not to be compared to someone.

This single off their album, Sneaky Like a Villain, is a great catchy song that may take you a while to get out of your head. If you like this track, I would highly recommend checking out the rest of the album.

Showing my love to the Good Guys

So, I am starting on the new episode which I am hoping to have on the air next week. My friend Jeremy from the Good Guys went out and produced TWO interviews for the show. Some how he accepted our rates!! Came out with some great interviews with The Dead Kenny Gs and Leslie and the Ly's. It's always nice for me to hear a different point of view and perspective from the interviews. To show my appreciation I wanted to post both of his band's music videos by my other friend Jason Affolder.

VIDEO: Moby - Shot in the Back of the Head

My good old room mate, Jack, sent this one my way. This video was directed by one of the biggest inspirations in my life, David Lynch. It looks like what happened here is that David decided to learn Flash, made a short film and asked Moby to come up with something on the spot.

The High Strung Work Their Ass Off For You

So, our friends in The High Strung have found Tumbler and are really committed to bringing new content. These Detroitians (is that a word?) are always on the road, so I am sure there will be a lot of videos inside Super 8s and truck stops. The really neat thing that they are doing is they are committed to posting a brand new song or a different version of some of their old songs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Take that MyNameIsJohnMichael! So, subscribe to their Tumbler, and I think now is a good time to add them to our Blog Roll. Also, don't forget to RSVP to their show in New Orleans with The Peekers, Generationals, and Floating Action.

SWAK Announces Operation Kegger

Was tagged on that face site today from Jared with Smiley With A Knife. He emailed me about this last week, and I love this idea. An original way to get a music video done. So, all you young film makers out there step it up and get your name out there. The winner of this competition will be on Static! Now, if that isn't enough incentive here is some more info:

Hey guys,

While SWAK takes a break to write and reorganize, we're promoting a campaign called Operation Kegger. I tagged you guys on this note because you seem like you'd be most interested in this Operation Kegger idea - if not enticed by the carrots it offers, at least intrigued by the concept.

The idea is simple: take any song from How a Reign Comes to an End, create a music video for that song, submit it, gather play counts, and cash in for a bunch of cool stuff from us (including a keg party and guest list spots for everything for a year and a half - among other things) if you get the most plays.

For the official blah blah blah about all of this, go to:
http://smileywithaknife.blogspot.com/2009/05/operation-kegger.html

Here's where we need you guys to get involved:
1. make a video and submit it
2. pass this note along to anyone who would be interested in making a video to submit
3. blog/tweet/whatever about this idea
or
4. make a video, submit it, pass this note along to anyone else who would be interested in making a video to submit, and blog/tweet/whatever about your submission and this idea

Thanks,
Jared Marcell

NOIRC Presents a PTV Showcase

New Orleans Indie Rock Collective is presenting a Park the Van showcase on June 12th. Now if you are living in New Orleans, and listen to music and haven't heard these bands, than where the hell have you been? Seriously...I talk about them all the time. Probably to the point where you stop reading this blog, because you think all I do is kiss Park the Van ass all day. Well it's true, because they, as a label, consistently put out amazing music just about as well as any other label out there. So, if you live in New Orleans, there is no way you can skip out on this show that weekend. It will be four amazing bands (The Peekers, The High Strung, The Generationals, and Floating Action) and at a space that is amazing (The Marigny Theater at 2240 St. Claude Ave). There is no word on price yet, but if this were going on up here in NYC I would pay like $20 to see this line up. Click HERE to RSVP to it on that creepy, stalker site known as Facebook and also remember that half the bands on this lineup will be playing at Memorializer at the Saint this Sunday. Ohh and here are some MP3s for you fiends, including this brand new cover from Floating Action of a classic Beck song!

Get to know Rebotini

I knew Black Strobe because of their fabulous song Me and Madonna, but like most electronic acts they get little, to no love in the states...well here is some love for you Arnaud. Paris' own Arnaud Rebotini is the main man behind Black Strobe, and just recently touched down in the states for a 3 date romp that included NYC and LA. Arnaud Rebotini's first solo album is entitled Music Components and is definitely worth a listen once it comes out. It isn't your typical dance album with elements that seperate it from most albums that come out in the genere. We got to sit down with Arnaud yesterday in his Hotel while he was here in NYC and talk about Napoleon's great mistake of selling Louisiana and how awesome Crepes are in Italy. So, be on the look out for that interview in the coming months. Here is one of the more outstanding tracks off his upcoming solo album, and hopefully this gets you ready for the weekend!

INTERVIEW: A Living Soundtrack

So earlier this month, I posted the things I am excited about this month and I believe it was Patrick from Smiley With A Knife who took my call to action and told me that I should be excited about their show tonight with Antenna Inn and A Living Soundtrack. I was so excited that someone actually reads the blog that I decided to get excited about the show. I had already done interviews with Smiley With A Knife and Antenna Inn for the blog so I decided to hit up the boys from Smiley With a Knife to help promote their show tonight at Tipitinas. So, lesson learned. Let me know about your shows! I DO CARE!!

Also, while putting in the tag for this post, I realized I have never talked about A Living Soundtrack before on the blog. That is a shame, they seem like some swell guys!

STATIC: I don't know much about you guys personally, what the Genesis of the band?
A LIVING SOUNDTRACK: It started out years ago (2004-ish) as a studio collaboration between myself and Matt Aguiluz.. We recorded an album that was eventually edited down to the self-titled EP. Our old friend Marshall Flaig, whom we had played with in other bands, helped us out with some drum tracks. At some point shortly after Hurricane Katrina the decision was made to actually make ALS a real live band. It took us about a year to figure out the logistics off how we would translate the material to a live scenario. It all started falling into place when Jenn Gosnell (now married to Matt - everybody say "awwwww") started playing keys with us. After some instrument switching and a lot of experimentation with computers and various MIDI devices, we finally had a 30-minute set to start practicing.

ST: Whats in a name? I have been having this debate a lot lately about band names. How did you come up with your name and what does it mean to you?
LS: Marshall was my neighbor during the time that Matt and I were working on what would become the EP. He suggested the name. It made total sense - Matt had written what was basically a screenplay for the album and we were working with sound in a very visual way. The project itself seemed alive in that it was growing and changing from the concept album that we envisioned into a what is now basically a rock band. A Living Soundtrack the band has always had its own agenda separate from the humans that play its music.

ST: What kind of movie would you want to make a soundtrack for?
LS: Honestly I think we'd all really love to write and play the score for a video game more than anything. Our alter-ego, Walking Man Sound, handles that side of things. We scored and recorded the bulk of the music for "Mythosis", a film currently in production in Spain. We also contributed some music and production work to the soundtrack of "Where the Sun Has A Mustache", a locally-produced documentary filmed in India.

ST: Been to the movies lately? Seen anything good? Any Summer flicks you excited about?
LS: We have all been so busy - I don't think anyone in our band has been to the movies in a while. I'm so disconnected right now I'm not sure I could name two movies that are currently playing. I think Marshall and Matt may have seen the Watchmen?

ST: What do you think the number one reason is that New Orleans bands get along so well?
LS: I think the number one reason would have to be a collective open mind when it comes to appreciating music. Most musicians that I know play in several bands at once, usually wildly different genres. You'll see ska kids playing jazz, metal-heads with techno side-projects, funk players in a noise-rock band, and all of them can and will rap if drunk enough. Our first show as ALS had an act that was improv jazz, an act that sounded like a pop-friendly Fugazi, and us - a keyboard-heavy electronic rock band. This is not uncommon in NOLA and I think that it is because the players and the fans alike tend to have a more universal respect for music than whatever genre their current projects fall into. Most musicians here are genuinely interested in what their fellow musicians are doing, whatever it is.

ST: Promote the show on Thursday
LS: ok. THURSDAY THURSDAY THURSDAY . Come to Tipitinas and see an eclectic showcase that will certainly satisfy. Antenna Inn, Smiley With A Knife and A Living Soundtrack unite for a clothing-optional night of free pizza and a raffle to win your own island**
**disclaimer: do not show up naked. pizza will not be free nor will it actually exist. elegibility for island giveaway subject to availability of free islands.

ST: Anything else coming up that we should be aware?
LS: We are working hard on an upcoming full-length album. We are trying to get it out by the end of summer. Keep your ears peeled.

ST: Have you ever had a question for me?
LS: What would you have done if we had answered all of these questions with quotes from "The Big Lebowski"?

I would have LOVED it! And I know you wanted a free MP3 out of this, so here it is...

Titus Andronicus Interview

I am super excited about the new episode of Static for many reasons. First, it has been too long! Second, we will be having our first premiere party in New York tonight at B-Side on Ave B between 12th and 13th. Third, there are some AMAZING videos in the show. And, finally, this great interview with Titus Andronicus that Rachel did down in New Orleans at One Eyed Jacks. Be sure to check out the whole show tonight at 10 on Cox 10 if you are in New Orleans, otherwise I will try and have it on the web tonight. Cox hasn't told me weather or not it has come in yet so I will keep you posted. Also, be sure to check out some of the edited material from this interview that wont appear in the episode that premieres tonight.

New Jahcoozi on Sugarcane

Heya guys, it's my first post here on Static TV's blog and I'm really happy to be here. Would like to send a special thanks out to all the people that make the show happen and asked me if I could come and share some music with you.

By special request though I'm going to do a little shameless self promotion for an upcoming release off our record label Sugarcane Recordings, and also throw in a couple of things from the past. Including a naughty little boot featuring our friends over in Philly, Spankrock.

First and foremost I want to share with you the next release coming up for us from Berlin based trio Jahcoozi. This is the second release we've done with these guys, we absolutely love them. Along with the original we have supporting remixes from some killer names Two Fingers, Oliver $, Plastic Little, and The Loose Cannons. Aside from working with us they have a wicked new album "Murder Us!!" dropping on Ninja Tune the first week in July. Here's a quick little snippet mix of all the remixes on the release put together by our buddy Robot Koch from Jahcoozi.

And, since I'm felling in a great mood today I'm also going to share with you a track off one of our previous releases. It's a slow little electroesque remix of our Style of Eye release done by Phonogenic

Last but not least is a cheeky little bootleg meant for the club that was floating around a few of the top Dj's bags for a bit. It's a mashup of Swag's remix of Dublex Inc., that was featured on our label, with Spakrock's banger "Bump". Hope you enjoy this special little treat!!

Looking forward to sharing some great tunes with everyone in the near future and keeping everyone updated of what's happening out there.

Cheers and ta ta for now.

And remember if you ever find anything you like on this blog or any other, you can generally check find them on iTunes, Beatport, Juno, or any other of the wonderful download sites out there. Support the Artists and People who bring this to you!!

Amos Lee this Wednesday @ the City Club

The man from the AT&T commercial, Amos Lee, will be playing just an hour outside of New Orleans at The City Club, 7861 Main Street, in Houma. This is a really cool new venue that you should check out if you haven't yet. He will be playing with Robin Kinchen. The show will be $22 and $32 if you want the special VIP access and the show starts at 7. You get tickets by clicking HERE. And here he is playing the song he got that good money from AT&T.

Get to know Jeremy Jay

My man Mat, who has been doing such a fantastic job with record reviews this past few weeks, has been telling us personal stories of musical discoveries as of late...so I will do one myself. A few weeks back my room mate, Jack (who took the picture above), played me some Jeremy Jay tracks to see if I wanted to check him out that night with him. He called it "medium rock." Not too sure what that means, but in one listen, I fell in love.

Jeremy Jay reminds me of a more produced Bill Callahan in his fabulous story telling and visual imagery he produces with his Lyrics. I find him to be quirkier than Bill, but not to the point where he looses you. When I saw him at Silent Barn he was great, but his recordings are even better. Live, he plays a lot faster, and believe me we were dancing the whole time. So seriously guys and galz, get to know him!

REVIEW: MyNameIsJohnMichael

MyNameIsJohnMichael is a name you hear a lot around New Orleans these days. They play out a lot, they've got a ton of energy and are steadily building quite a local following. And as I found out when STATIC founder, aka Wesley, provided me with their album a few weeks back, the buzz is well deserved. For all of the great jazz, blues and hip hop that comes out of the city, there have been only a handful of bands in the past few decades that have taken to the rock scene and done it as well as MNIJM. As one NOLA-based musician told me when I mentioned I'd be reviewing the band's album, "whether you're into it or not . . . you can't deny that the guy writes some catchy songs."

And catchy they are. The debut record for MyNameisJohnMichael, "The People that Come and Go" is bursting with energy. From the Sufjan-esque horn parts in the titular opener to the simple and repetitive vocal work on "The One," these guys are running full force for the entirety of the album. And while MNIJM really aren't the type of thing I would typically listen to . . . I have found myself humming the songs days after my first few listens.

John Michael Rouchell (yes, John Michael is the main songwriter's name) started writing and recording a lot of these songs back in 2007 as a solo project. Much like the Brooklyn band I reviewed earlier this week - Here We Go Magic - this is another case of a guy in his apartment that eventually turned into a number of guys with a big sound and a soon-to-be-big following. John Michael has a knack for finding the riffs and melodies that stick with you. Some might complain that a few of the songs are better than others or that the lyrics are lacking in a few places, but I'd argue that the pop-tastic quality illuminating all of his writing in one place or another makes up for any of the smaller pieces that don't quite fit. It's a strong debut effort, and the band is sure to only improve over time.

INTERVIEW: The Public

While all my focus is on Brooklynola this Friday, life still does go on in New Orleans, and the Public will be playing at the Circle Bar with the Green Genes and so to show my love back home I dropped a line to the boys in the Public to see how things are these days.

photo of Travis from the Public by Tamara Grayson

STATIC: Have a Jazz Fest hangover?
JACK: No i had to work through jazz fest. I did get to wait on a number of 50 year old men with pony tails and Hawaiian shirts, though.
TRAVIS: ha! i was going to see Kings of Leon, but i was actually too hungover from djing circle bar the night before.

ST: What were some of the highlights?
TV: my hangover highlights included a Rocky's pizza and watching Wolverine while gingerly sipping a frozen coke.
BRYAN: It's nice because I play alot of private parties, which is always fun.

ST: I know you guys are a storied New Orleans band, but for people like myself who don't know much about your past, how did you get here?
TV: Long story short, a friend of mine i was working with at a TV station put me in touch with Bryan and he put us all together. We had all three played in Falling Janus at different times in the late 90s, so we definitely knew we had a common background. Our bassist, Ryan came in from a very different musical perspective, and it all gelled into this weird mash of a New Orleans rhythm section with post-punk melodic sensibilities over it.
We did our first show at Howling Wolf in '03 and played The Mermaid Lounge and One Eyed Jacks quite a bit after that.. sold out One Eyed Jacks for our CD release party. Then the storm came around and scattered us and our following all over the country. We were one of the first rock bands playing in town after the storm, started traveling more. A few months later, we got signed to a label in NYC after doing a mini-tour. We're currently finishing out the record we did in NYC and are doing two EPs at The Living Room in a couple of weeks with our new Bass Player, Ronan Bradley.

ST: Public is of or pertaining to the people. Do you feel you create music for the public?
TV: Originally that was the concept, Jack named the band with The Smiths' very non-descript, generic name in mind. He wanted it to sound a bit socialist like "the people's band". I'm not really a very political writer though. Most of the lyrics have turned out to be more in the vein of some kind of apocalyptic heartbreak story. We Are The Public was sort of a Ballardian (RIP) dystopian construct, Saturn Missile Battery was about an impending breakup, No Love is Permanent (the new LP) is sort of a mash of the two concepts fit with a group of songs we wrote after I had lost most everything in the storm right after my girlfriend of 8 years and I had broken up. Needless to say, i was in a pretty self-absorbed and dark place then and pretty much creating music for myself... I'd like to think it's relatable, but not necessarily 'for' the public.

ST: Your sound isn't very New Orleans as far as I can tell. Where does it come from?
TV: I've been hearing that a lot since we fired our accordian player (joking) It's not unprecedented for New Orleans to have some kind of "underground" rock sounding band around. There were The Normals, Red Rockers and The Cold back in the late 70s/early 80s, our beginnings were in that huge goth/punk scene we had here in the late 90's. This city seems to have always generated some band or other that is a result of the discontent of living in what can be a very harsh and violent environment.
In my mind, that rootsy sounding traditional "New Orleans" music is the Bourbon St to our Lower Decatur St. Nothing wrong with it, but it's more at the surface of what really goes on in New Orleans. Anyone that lives here knows that it's not all daquiris and beignets and some guy playing sax on the street corner, there's a great deal of emotional anxiety that can come with living in a city where you can get shot walking to buy groceries and run the potential of getting wiped out by a hurricane every fall. There isn't any other band from here really articulating that right now. Our sound comes from living in real-life New Orleans and not postcard New Orleans. I don't see us as any more or less authentically "New Orleans" than any other band from here, we just embody a different aspect of the same place.
However, with all that being said, we can bust out a pretty serious funk jam if pressed for it, and often do that in other cities for soundcheck for the sheer purpose of baffling soundmen haha

ST: You guys lost a band member this past year a way most bands wish to never lose a member. How has your transition to a new member gone?
JACK: It's harder than you can imagine. Especially since two of us knew Ryan from when we were children. We definately lost a major part of our sound. Ryan was completely unique as far as a musician and a person.
TV: Ronan and I learned to play our instruments together figuring out tab out of Guitar World when we were in high school. He's fitting in great and writing really well with us, bringing a little bit more punk to it. Ryan was more of a funk player, and the sound is changing as you would expect it to with a new member. So it's different, but still very much in keeping with what we do. It's been hard on Ronan to fill Ryan's place due to the nature of his death but he's been doing well with it and everyone has been very supportive.
I should also take a second to express our thanks to Jonathan Logan (formerly of Krush U.K. and the Molly Ringwalds) He was working with us before Ronan moved here and really helped us get through that period, but unfortunately we weren't able to get a show together while he was with us. If it wasn't for his contribution, we might not have been able to continue.

ST: Summer vacation plans? It always seems bands like to take road trips for their summer vacations.
TV: We've started working up a couple of mini-tours, nothing more than 5 days. We're all working stiffs, so it's kinda hard to break away from that sometimes.
BY: no plans except going to disney with the family.

ST: Now that my poor hornets are all done, we now move our focus to the Saints. What are your thoughts on their draft this year?
JACK: I'm just waiting to get the Saints' Super Bowl tattoo. I have all the games marked down on my calendar. I'm ready and hoping for the best.

ST: Promote your show on Friday night. Doing any big things?
RONAN: staying sober enough to play is always a big thing.

ST: I know you throw Action Action Reaction and you have a tendency of getting people to their underwear. Going to top that?
TV: Haha yeah we've created a monster with the dance party. For the record, I don't know how the underwear thing got started, but I ain't complaining. Friday's going to be a great show. The Green Genes are one of my favorite locals. Those guys are amazing. Makeshift Lover just moved over here from the Mississippi coast and I think people are really going to love them too. It gets pretty hot in the circle bar, so who knows, we might just end up in our skivvies before the night's through

Well I can only hope some people get get into their underwear up here as well this Friday! The Public was kind enough to give up a few MP3s.

REVIEW: Here We Go Magic - "Here We Go Magic"

I first heard about Here We Go Magic last month when I ran into my friend as he quite litereally danced his way down the street in Williamsburg. People were staring, he paid them no mind . . . and I almost had to tackle the guy to get his attention. After he had dis-lodged his earphones from his head I asked him - "Seriously dude, what the hell are you listening to?" Instead of giving a straight answer he just started singing the chorus to "Fangala," the second track on HWGM's debut record. When I pressed him further, he finally told me the name of the band.

A few days following that exchange, I noticed that Here We Go Magic was playing a show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. I drug some friends along with me, paid my cover at the door and the rest, as they say, is history. The band was great. The songs were dance-tastic. I was sold. The bands self-titled debut album was actually written by the lead vocalist and songwriter for the band - Luke Temple. It started as a solo project he worked on in his apartment in Greenpoint. When it was finished, he named it after a phrase he liked the sound of and eventually gathered a group of talented musicians around him to play the material live.

The live stuff worked so well that the man and the musicians became one - taking Here We Go Magic as their namesake. The result is one hell of a live show, and a poppy, extremely well written record that will be stuck in your head for days. Not all of you will be forced to make a spectacle of yourself like my friend dancing out in public, but you will all want to dance. If you don't believe me, check out the free MP3 of "Fangala" at the bottom of the post.

Odoms announces CD release show

Well here is something to look forward to in June

Click HERE to RSVP on Facebook and be sure to also check out his amazing Keeping up with the Jetsons Video.

Things I am excited about in May

Wikipedia describes a hangover as "the sum of unpleasant physiological effects following heavy consumption of a drug." That is how my NOLA brothers must feel after Jazz Fest and by the looks of the upcoming events calender (thanks to our brothers at Antigravity) the jealousy may move from me to you to you to me especially as it gets even hotter and there are more music related events going on up here then down there and honestly isn't much going on in May so this may be a short post.

FRIDAY 5/8
Right off the bat you are coming to me if you want to be where it's at! One of two events we are sponsoring this month, Brooklynola, will be going down at Public Assembly here in my neighborhood of Williamsburg with the Queen of Soul, DJ Soul Sister, the new darlings of the NOLA rock scene, Generationals, as well as North American Wildlife, Simon Lott, Mike Gamble, and Marc Friedman. It will be a fun night and if you do see me that night I will probably be super drunk.

SATURDAY 5/9
Big Rock Candy Mountain's CD release party with The Blue Party and The Revivalists @ Tipitina's. I know there are a lot of college kids that read this blog and I know this is a time of year you are excited about, because it is the official beginning of the summer and end of another semester in college down. Well, back in NOLA you can treat yourself with some solid bands, with Big Rock Candy Mountain celebrating the release of their first album.

Also, this night will be the second day of celebrating the love affair between Brooklyn and NOLA at The Saint with DJ Japanster and The Captain.

FRIDAY 5/11
On a Static Television note, we are excited to be interviewing the Crystal Antlers in Brooklyn. Be on the look out!!

FRIDAY 5/12
on another programing note, Static TV will have a new episode on the air this night. It has been a long hiatus while I got a new computer and wrapped up a project I had been working on up here. Sorry for the delay, but we will be back with our exclusive interview with Titus Andronicus and a classic interview!

FRIDAY 5/15
An unfortunate night, because there is so little going on this month in New Orleans and there are again two things this night that you should see. One of my favorite bands in Louisiana, Brass Bed, will be playing at the Circle Bar. I have a feeling a lot of you will see who else is playing that night, TV on the Radio, but if you haven't seen these guys live yet, do try, and make it out to see them. They will be in New Orleans next month for a big show with the Peekers and Generationals, so see them then!
Like I was saying, Brooklyn legends, TV on the Radio, will be playing at the House of Blues with Little Dragon. They put on amazing live shows, so this will be worth the service charge and overpriced drinks. I have also read that TV's drummer, Jaleel, will be DJing at the Saint that night.
INTERVIEW: Brass Bed

SUNDAY 5/24
The second party we are a part of and very excited about is Memorializer at the Saint. This will be my first time back in New Orleans since coming up to New York for work in January. This is the second longest stretch I have been away from NOLA and the longest was due to Katrina, so this will be a pretty emotional return home for me. What better way for me to celebrate than to throw a party with my dear friends with Park the Van Records, Humid Beings, Dirty Coast and Defend New Orleans. We will have free BBQ from the Joint (donations will be much appreciated), drink specials and special performances from some Park the Van bands you love, the Generationals playing an accoustic set and the Peekers covering the Teeth's Carry the Wood and I will finally see Drew Stubbs DJ. If you are a reader of this blog, I want to show you my appreciation so come out and introduce yourself, and I will buy you a drink!

If there is something else I should be excited about, then let me know about it!!! Email any events that I should know about to info@statictelevision.com

8 NYC Bands You Need to Hear

Since moving to NYC this past January I have learned that The L Magazine is an awesome magazine for free here and they have just released their 8 NYC Bands you need to hear this year. Past years have included The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and one of my favorite artists from last year, High Places. On the list this year are Savoir Adore, Anamanaguchi, The Albertans, Darlings, Pow Wow!, Xylos, the Beets, and Emanuel & the Fear. Click HERE to read the shole article and interviews with the bands. I don't know any of the bands on the list, which is great because that just means more to discover! Also, for my NYC readers check out their North Side Festival coming up in June.

Jazz Fest 2009 weekend 2 picks

Not going to lie, not too into Jazz Fest this weekend. But like I've always said, I'm all about the after parties or maybe the people that Jazz Fest picks I don't know and am not educated to their talents, but I would probably save my money.

May 1st:
Truth Universal

May 2nd:
Dr. John, Kings of Leon, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and New Orleans Bingo Show

May 3rd:
Neil Young and Ellis Marsailis
