Broken Social Scene's newest album, Forgiveness Rock Record, is out today on the Canadian label Arts and Crafts. The band that is driven by front men Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning hasn't put out a record "together" since their amazing self titled record in 2005.
Their latest album doesn't venture far from what made them one of the best bands of the last ten years. The record starts off super strong with the single World Sick, which was released a few months back. The album continues down a steady pop-rocking path that will have most listeners very pleased. I think the only people that won't enjoy this record are people who can't get their head out their ass.
The group that has spawned so many great solo artists including Fiest and Jason Collett just knows how to make amazing pop music. Their use of production and vocals are melded perfectly. They use vocals as another instrument to tool their music. I would highly recommend getting this record, because you will probably have it on repeat for a while.
